Block Paved Patio Installation | Exeter
As part of a larger property improvement project in Exeter, we transformed this previously uneven and overgrown garden into a smart, practical outdoor space featuring a new block paved patio and connecting pathway.
The wider project at this property also included the construction of an outdoor utility room, external rendering, a new flat roof and skylight installation. Each element of the transformation can be viewed separately within the other projects on our Projects page.
Preparing the Garden
The existing garden had a narrow, uneven pathway surrounded by overgrown planting, loose ground and areas that were difficult to access and maintain. Before installing the paving, the working area was cleared and excavated to create suitable levels for the new patio and pathway.
Care was taken to retain the established planting around the perimeter, allowing the finished hard landscaping to sit naturally within the garden.
Block Paved Patio Installation
A spacious new patio was created beside the outdoor utility room using dark charcoal block paving. Contrasting buff-coloured blocks were installed around the perimeter, helping to define the patio and provide an attractive border.
A decorative diamond detail was incorporated into the centre of the paving, adding a distinctive finishing touch to the main seating and entertaining area.
The patio was designed to connect neatly with the new utility room, rendered boundary wall and the rest of the garden. Drainage channels were also positioned alongside the building to help direct surface water away from the structure.
New Garden Pathway
The block paving continues beyond the main patio to form a practical garden pathway. Dark blocks were laid through the centre and complemented by matching buff borders, creating a consistent design throughout the outdoor space.
Timber edging and raised planting areas were incorporated along sections of the pathway, helping to separate the paved route from the surrounding beds while retaining the garden’s established greenery.
The Finished Transformation
The completed patio and pathway have dramatically improved the appearance and usability of the garden. What was previously an uneven and restricted outdoor area is now a clean, accessible and low-maintenance space with a clear route through the property.
The charcoal paving, contrasting borders and central feature create a modern finish that complements the newly constructed and rendered utility room.
This block paved patio formed one part of a much larger transformation completed at the same Exeter property. Visit our Projects page to see the outdoor utility room, rendered wall, flat roof and skylight installations featured as individual projects.
